The Carson City School District is pleased to announce Mr. Adrian Manzano, a third grade student at Empire Elementary School, as a winner of the State Fire Prevention & Awareness Poster Contest for his age category. Manzano was honored with his poster placed on billboards in the Elko, Reno/Sparks, Carson City and Las Vegas areas. Additionally, he received a plaque from the Nevada State Fire Marshal Division and recognition by the National Fire Protection Association.

School District Launches COVID-19 Testing Program for Employees

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce it will offer free COVID-19 testing for all school employees in two drive-thru events. Information about the dates, times and location have already been provided to employees from school administrators. After the drive-thru events, school employees who become symptomatic at work may be tested by one of the school nurses.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile (RMCM), in partnership with Nevada Health Centers and Ronald McDonald House Charities, will offer oral healthcare to child (up to age 21) and also to pregnant women at three locations in Carson City next week.

The Carson City School District said one reason for the lack of candidates as of late is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused hardships on families where working from home has forced adjustments on career assignments as well as the challenges of remote learning where students are home more often.

The Carson City School District’s Nutrition Services is pleased to announce it has been approved for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) waiver to provide free lunch and breakfast for all children 18 and under through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year (June 2021).
