The Carson City School District will host two showings of a 60-minute documentary titled "Screenagers Next Chapter - Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience" Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson City Community Center. The two showings, beginning at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m., will be free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children.

Two Teachers Earn National Board Certifications

The Carson City School District is celebrating two new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Recognition will come at Tuesday’s school board meeting. NBCT is widely considered to be the highest professional recognition for educators and includes a five percent pay increase in acknowledgement of accomplished teaching.

The Carson City School District recently added a new video to a playlist at CarsonCitySchools.com that highlights how incredible the teaching profession is as well as the many challenges faced and rewards that come from being an educator. Socorro Vega, a first grade teacher at Al Seeliger Elementary School, is the fourth teacher to be featured from the school district.
