Nevada’s system for assessing students, the Nevada Proficiency Examination Program (NPEP), consists of different tests taken by students enrolled in public and charter schools in specific grades and specific programs.

High School Proficiency Examination (HSPE):

Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Writing (Grades 10 – 12)

Writing Assessments:

(Grades 11)

End of Course (EoC):

EOCs will be given for the first time in the spring semester of 2015.The EOC exams are aligned to the Nevada Academic Content Standards in English language arts and math.

American College Testing (ACT):

The ACT college readiness assessment is a curriculum- and standards-based educational and career planning tool that assesses students’ academic readiness for college.

Criterion-Referenced Tests (CRT):

Science (Grades 5 and 8) Beginning in school year 2014-15, the Smarter Balanced Assessments will replace the Nevada Criterion Referenced Test in reading and mathematics for grades 3-8 and writing in grades 5 and 8.NDE Approves New Criterion Referenced Tests for Grades 3-8 (9-25-2014)
