Parent Involvement Policy

Parent Involvement Policy

It is the goal of the Empire Elementary School Title I program to encourage greater involvement of parents in the education of their children and build a strong home-school partnership.

Parents will be informed of the school’s participation in the Title I program, the requirements of Title I, NSPF (Nevada School Performance Framework) and their right to be involved at the Open House/Annual Title I meeting held each year. The meeting will focus on the available instructional objectives and programs, and will be offered at flexible times, as practicable. All information will be available in both English and Spanish. A school wide Education Involvement Accord that outlines how parents; school staff and students share the responsibility for improving learning will be distributed during registration of the student and discussed during the Parent-Teacher Conference.

We will make every effort to communicate clearly and often with our parents. We will provide translators and translations of communication in families home language whenever possible.

We will hold a minimum of two scheduled parent conference yearly, where the progress of the student will be discussed as well as the expectations for the grade level school curriculum, test information, alternate assessments, how to work with educators and other concerns a parent may have. Students will receive progress report cards quarterly as means to inform parents of academic achievement.

We will strive to make community resource information available to families as needed including medical, mental health, financial and legal resources from our community.

We will provide a number of opportunities for parent involvement, including PTO meetings, curriculum nights and music/arts programs and activities throughout the year. The purpose of these gatherings will be to provide information and assistance to parents to improve their children’s academic achievement, using technology as appropriate. We will endorse family participation in school decisions, accountability and advocacy through the Parent-Teacher Organization meetings and participation in our Title I program. We will involve parents in the development and implementation of the parent involvement policy and School Performance Plan on a yearly basis. We will survey parents to collect opinions, concerns and suggestions for parent involvement. Survey results will also be utilized to plan programming.

We will continue to encourage and welcome parent and community volunteers to become part of our school family.

Thank you!
