Sara Pettay is one of our many outstanding seniors at Carson High.  As a Jump Start student at Western Nevada College on track to receive her Associate of Science degree in May, just before receiving her CHS diploma, Sara has proven she is ready to succeed in college and her career.  Sara credits her family with her success up to this point. She reports her parents and two brothers provide tremendous support and guidance.

Sara has focused on academics throughout her education, believing the harder she pushed herself, the more likely success would follow and opportunities would open up.  Before enrolling in the dual credit program in her Junior year, Sara enjoyed her role as a cheerleader and the volunteer projects they performed. Additionally, she volunteered with Stagecoach Bingo at the Community Center.

Sara’s focus definitely paid off as she is currently ranked first among her class along with three others who have maintained an unweighted GPA of 4.0, and she has earned a 4.82 weighted GPA. Sara has made the Dean’s list at WNC each semester and is soon to receive her third Academic Award at CHS.

When asked about future plans, Sara shares that she plans to have a career in Engineering.  Her first choices for continuing her education are UNR and Montana State University, Bozeman, but she is also completing the Common App to see what opportunities may arise through this program, which offers connections to over 1,000 colleges worldwide.

Join us in wishing her great adventures and success.
