Hello, My name is Jackie Smith. I am one of the ESL teachers at Empire Elementary School. I have been at Empire for one and a half years. Before coming to Empire I taught middle school and was a substitute teacher at many different schools in Douglas County.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder. When my children were small I decided to go back to school and become a teacher. I have a Nevada Teaching Credential with a special TESL endorsement that qualifies me as highly qualified to teach K-8 elementary students as well as ESL to English Language Learners in the state of Nevada. I am also highly qualified to teach middle school English and Social Studies. I also speak Spanish fluently. I have three children who all LOVE to play soccer and other sports. So, when I am not here at school, I am busy attending many of their sporting events.  I LOVE teaching ESL and I LOVE being here at EMPIRE.  I look forward to helping your child achieve their educational goals with your assistance.
